In my early 20’s I studied jiujitsu. One of the first lessons we learned was how to fall effectively and return to a fighting stance. It taught me that no matter how skilled you are, as some point you will fall. Moreover, to fall is not a sign of defeat. With that understanding, I’ve come to realize (in my late 30’s), we must learn how to prepare and protect ourselves when we fall (not if, but when) in life. Again, we must remember that to fall is human. The righteous man falls seven times. His man-ness causes him to fall, his righteousness causes him to get up again.
Never let something as irrelevant as a fall cancel your victory parade. Get back up.
